R Street Report Ranks TN 7th in Insurance Regulation

The R Street Institute recently released its 2015 Insurance Regulation Report Card. The report is an annual examination of which states do the best job of regulating the business of insurance.

In its results, the Institute has given Tennessee a score of A- for 2015 in regards to insurance regulation. The report ranked the state 7th overall with a total score of 77.7. It noted Tennessee's strengths as low politicization, solvency regulation and workers’ compensation market competitiveness. This was a slight improvement over the state's 2014 grade of B. This is a continued emphasis that our state's workers' compensation regulation is trending upward, and is not in need of immediate reforms or radical changes like Opt-Out.
